NEW DELHI: With the Centre completing formalities for appointment of Chief Justice of India within seven days, against the usual two weeks, President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday designated Justice Surya Kant as the next CJI. He will take oath on Nov 24, reports Dhananjay Mahapatra.Law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had written to CJI B R Gavai on Oct 24 seeking his recommendation for the next CJI. On Oct 27, the CJI recommended the name of Justice Kant, the most senior SC judge.
