NEW DELHI: Amitabh Kant, India’s former sherpa to G20, has said the country needs to fire on all cylinders to reach the goal of a $30 trillion economy. “If we want to create an employable population, it is very critical to focus on improving health outcomes and nutrition standards as we-ll. If we want to grow at the rate required to transform India into a 30 trillion economy, we need to fire on all cylinders – you need to do services but you also need to do smart urbanisation, which will be a key driver of job creation in India,” he said at spark forum’s Charcha 2025.Shamika Ravi, member of Economic Advisory Council to PM, highlighted the need for skilling. “We have a lot of educated people, degree holders, but the market actually values skill. Most of the industry surveys are telling me that today… the biggest constraint to the growth of existing firms, creation of new jobs, etc is skilled manpower,” she said.Amit Yadav, secretary in the department of social justice and empowerment, said India’s development must be measured by how it treats the most vulnerable. Kumaresh Pattabiraman, LinkedIn India country manager, said that growth will hinge on how well Tier II and III cities convert energy into opportunity.
