The voting in the constituency was in the phase-2 of the polls on November 11.

In the 2020, Rajesh Kumar Gupta, RJD won, defeating Ashok Kumar JD (U) by a margin of 26,423 votes, securing 83,303 votes to Kumar’s 56,880.The seat has a rich electoral history: Jawahar Prasad Kushwaha (BJP) a prominent leader, won five terms (1990–95, 1995–2000, 2005 twice, and 2010).Socially, Sasaram is dominated by the Kushwaha caste, which held the seat for some 35 years from 1980 to 2015, prompting all parties to field candidates from this community during that period. The broader demographics says around 66–67% rural voters, with urban voters making up the rest.
