New Delhi:Nitish Rana‘s former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammates Phil Salt, Harshit Rana and Suyash Sharma have come in support of the southpaw following his on-field spat with Digvesh Rathi in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL).The incident took place during the Eliminator match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday.It started when Rathi, during his bowling action, chose not to release the ball, leading to Rana attempting a sweep shot in response. When Rathi came back to bowl again, Rana stepped away from the crease.The situation escalated after Rana hit a six over deep point with a reverse sweep, following which he angrily charged towards Rathi. Umpire Gayathri Venugopalan and nearby fielders had to quickly intervene to separate the two players.Rana went on to score a century in the match, helping West Delhi advance to Qualifier 2 against East Delhi Riders scheduled for Saturday. However, he was subsequently fined 50 percent of his match fees for breaching Article 2.6 (Level 1) of the Code of Conduct for using offensive gestures during the match.Rathi, who has previously faced fines in IPL 2025 for his notebook-style celebrations, received an 80 percent match fee penalty for violating Article 2.2 (Level 2) for conduct against the spirit of the game.
