Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has shared his advice for Salman Ali Agha and his teammates ahead of Sunday’s Asia Cup 2025 final against India in Dubai. This match will mark the third clash between the two sides in the ongoing tournament, with India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, having won both previous encounters and holding a psychological edge going into the summit clash. Pakistan, on the other hand, had a mixed campaign but secured a spot in the final after an 11-run victory over Bangladesh in their last Super Four match, showcasing their ability to perform under pressure. Akram emphasised the importance of confidence and early breakthroughs for Pakistan in the final. “The final is between India and Pakistan. India is definitely the favourite, but anything can happen. Pakistan must maintain confidence and momentum. They must believe in themselves and play smart cricket. If Pakistan takes early wickets, they can put India on the back foot. I hope the best team wins in the end,” the former legend said.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final: The FIRST will be a very tense clash between arch-rivals

Speaking after Pakistan’s win over Bangladesh, skipper Salman Ali Agha reflected on the significance of such wins in proving the team’s capabilities. “If you win these kinds of games, then we must be a special team. Everyone played really well. There is some room for improvement in batting, but we will work on that. Fielding has been strong, and Shane has been working hard with us in extra sessions. Mike Hesson has made it clear that if you can’t field, you won’t make the team. We are a good enough side to beat anyone, and we will come back on Sunday and try to do that,” Agha said. Pakistan will take on its arch-rivals India in the Asia Cup final for the first time in the tournament’s history across both ODI and T20I editions, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter.
