NEW DELHI: Will the Asia Cup 2025 witness a high-voltage India vs Pakistan showdown for the third time in the tournament — and this time in the final on September 28?The two arch-rivals have already faced each other once in the Super Four stage, where India came out on top. Pakistan, on the other hand, kept their campaign alive by defeating Sri Lanka in a do-or-die clash to stay in contention for the title.India currently sit at the top of the Super Four points table, with Pakistan in second place. If both sides continue on their winning paths, the cricket world could finally see an India vs Pakistan final — something that has never happened before in Asia Cup history.Since the tournament’s inception in 1984, the two teams have met 20 times across both ODI and T20 formats, but never in a final despite their fierce rivalry.Speaking after Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday, pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi said his team is ready to take on India if the two sides meet in the summit clash.“Final tak na wo pahoche hain, na hum. Jab ayenge to dekh lenge. Humara kaam hai Asia Cup jitna [Neither they have reached the final nor have we. Once both teams get there, we’ll see. Our job is to win the Asia Cup],” Shaheen said.
