CHANDIGARH: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College organized a special lecture on “Traditional Media vs. New Media” under the PM-Usha Scheme. The session, attended by nearly 200 students, aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices.In her lecture, Manokriti Bedi, editor of a magazine, addressed the risks of misinformation in content strategies and the challenges of lead generation in the digital landscape.College Principal Ajay Sharma welcomed the gathering and encouraged students to become independent thinkers in the digital age. He also highlighted key aspects of media, including media ownership and its potential benefits.Priya Chadha, Head of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of their courses. She urged students to develop a habit of reading newspapers and to use social media judiciously.The lecture provided students with valuable insights into evolving media practices and the critical importance of cross-checking facts and responsible reporting. The event concluded with an interactive session where students shared their views on the future of print media. The lecture was organized by Ambika Sharma, a faculty member of the department.
