NEW DELHI: An FIR has been registered against Congress leaders for circulating an AI-generated deepfake video that allegedly defames Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother. The video, shared on September 10 by the official X handle of the Bihar Congress, was described in the FIR as “maligning and defaming image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother gross violation of law, morality, and women’s dignity.”
The case was filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, following a complaint by BJP Delhi election cell convenor Sanket Gupta.While filing the FIR on Friday, Gupta alleged that the AI video, which shows PM Modi dreaming of his late mother criticising his politics in poll-bound Bihar, was designed to tarnish the Prime Minister’s image and insult his mother’s memory.This is a developing story.
