The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Sebi-Sahara account, where the Sahara group had deposited nearly Rs 25,000 crore on SC orders after detection of fraud by its group companies, to release an additional Rs 5,000 crore to Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) for reimbursement of part of amounts deposited by people defrauded by the group, reports Dhananjay Mahapatra.A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi accepted the request made by solicitor general Tushar Mehta and directed Sebi-Sahara account to transfer Rs 5,000 crore to the account of CRCS for reimbursement of monies to depositors.
