Mumbai: Prithvi Shaw on Thursday apologised to Musheer Khan after being involved in an altercation with his former Mumbai teammate during Day One of a friendly match between Mumbai and Maharashtra at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje in Pune on Tuesday, TOI has learnt. The former India and Mumbai opener, now representing Maharashtra, was seen angrily rushing at Musheer after completing a brilliant century against his former domestic side. However, on Day three of the match (which was streamed live by the Maharashtra Cricket Association), Shaw walked up to Musheer, after the dismissal of his opening partner Arshin Kulkarni, and wrapped his arm around the allrounder’s neck and seemed to having a friendly chat with the Mumbai youngster. Musheer too responded by keeping his hands on Prithvi’s waist during the amicable-looking conversation.“Prithvi realized his mistake, and approached Musheer and apologised to him. Prithvi told him that ‘ I am like an older brother to you.’ So all is well between the two,” a source told this paper. In fact, Shaw and Musheer’s Khan’s elder brother Sarfaraz Khan have been childhood friends, and have known each other for a long time. Prithvi and Sarfaraz were teammates at Rizvi Springfield School and Mumbai, and have batted together a lot.Opening the batting, Shaw hammered a splendid 181 off 220 balls, with 21 fours and three sixes, on Day One of the match and shared a huge 305-run opening stand with Arshin Kulkarni. Kulkarni too notched up a superb century, scoring 186 off just 140 balls with 33 fours and four sixes, after Maharashtra opted to bat.

Safaraz cleared for Ranji Trophy

Meanwhile, In a big boost to Mumbai, Sarfaraz has completed his injury rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is now fit to play in the Ranji Trophy. The seasoned middle-order batsman will thus travel with the Mumbai team for the opening match of the tournament against Jammu & Kashmir from Oct 15.
