In a landmark moment for Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup, opener Sidra Amin scripted history by hitting her team’s first-ever six against India in ODIs. The milestone came in the 18th over of Pakistan’s chase at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Facing off-spinner Sneh Rana, Sidra stepped down the track and confidently hit her over long-on. The ball cleared the ropes by a few feet, marking a rare moment in what has been a one-sided rivalry between the two sides.Sidra’s six briefly lifted the tempo of Pakistan’s innings, which had earlier struggled to build momentum after early dismissals. By the end of 24 overs, Pakistan had reached 81 for 3, still needing 167 runs for victory. Sidra remained unbeaten on 37 off 66 balls, having struck four boundaries and that historic six. Jemimah Rodrigues (32 off 37) and Richa Ghosh (35* off 20) were among the power hitters, while Diana Baig (4/69) and Fatima Sana (2/38) led Pakistan’s bowling attack. Pakistan’s chase began poorly with Muneeba Ali’s controversial run-out in the fourth over, followed by Sadaf Shamas and Aliya Riaz’s quick dismissals. But Sidra’s hitting, capped by her historic six provided a rare highlight for Pakistan in the high-stakes encounter.

It remains to be seen whether Pakistan will claw their way to a first-ever win over India in ODIs, and open their account in what has been a one-sided rivalry so far.
