India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reached another milestone in the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Day 2, scoring an unbeaten century to strengthen India’s dominant position. Jadeja brought up his 6th Test hundred in 168 balls with a gentle push off Jomel Warrican, accompanied by his trademark bat-sword celebration before embracing teammate Washington Sundar. He ended the day on 104* from 176 balls, hitting five sixes and six fours, showcasing effortless timing and his fiery form in the format.

The five sixes off Warrican also marked the joint second-most by an Indian batter against a single opposition bowler in a Test innings. Only former captain MS Dhoni has hit more, smashing six sixes off Dave Mohammad in St John’s in 2006. Jadeja’s innings was part of a strong partnership with Dhruv Jurel. Starting at 218/4, the duo extended India’s lead with aggressive intent, hitting three sixes in just eight balls between the 71st and 72nd overs. Together, they helped India pass 250 in 74.3 overs, reach 300 in 87 overs, and complete a 100-run stand in 151 balls. The century also marked a personal milestone off the field as Jadeja surpassed Dhoni to become India’s fourth-highest six-hitter in Test cricket, with 80 sixes in 86 matches, overtaking Dhoni’s 78 in 90 Tests. He sits behind Virender Sehwag (90), Rishabh Pant (90), and Rohit Sharma (88). India finished Day 2 at 448/5 in 128 overs, leading by 286 runs. The innings also contributed to a rare feat for India in 2025 — the fourth instance in history of three batters scoring centuries in the same innings in the same calendar year, joining 1979, 1986, and 2007. Rahul, Jurel, and Jadeja have now all reached three figures this innings against West Indies.
