Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan joined the cricketing banter following India’s thrilling Asia Cup 2025 victory over Pakistan with a tweet that left fans in splits. Posting in Hindi and English, he wrote:“जीत गये ! well played ‘Abhishek Bachchan‘ .. उधर ज़बान लड़खड़ाई, और इधर, बिना batting bowling fielding किए, लड़खड़ा दिया दुश्मन को !! बोलती बंद !! जय हिन्द ! जय भारत ! जय माँ दुर्गा !”

The tweet was a playful nod to Pakistan, taking a silent dig while referencing a recent slip-up by former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar. During the pre-final cricket talk show “Game On Hai,” Akhtar mistakenly referred to India’s rising opener Abhishek Sharma as “Abhishek Bachchan.” The gaffe drew laughter from hosts and panellists and went viral on social media.Abhishek Sharma responded to the mix-up with good humour, tweeting: “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.”

Sharma has been the star of the tournament, delivering back-to-back half-centuries and leading India’s scoring charts. Alongside him, Kuldeep Yadav spearheaded India’s bowling attack, while the team overcame fielding challenges to remain unbeaten throughout the tournament. The Asia Cup final lived up to expectations. India held its nerve to defeat Pakistan by five wickets in a nail-biting finish at the Dubai International Stadium. Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69, supported by Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, helped India chase 147 with just two balls to spare. Pakistan, despite early momentum from Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, collapsed to 146 all out, with Kuldeep Yadav taking four wickets. The victory marked India’s ninth Asia Cup title and its second in the T20 format, further cementing Abhishek Sharma’s place as the tournament’s rising star and providing a perfect punchline to the Bollywood-cricket crossover humour that preceded the final.
