India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has publicly responded to former cricketer Mohammad Kaif’s remarks on his workload management, dismissing his claims as inaccurate. On Thursday evening, Kaif raised concerns about how Bumrah was being used in white-ball cricket. Referring to the Asia Cup, he pointed out that under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, Bumrah bowled three overs with the new ball rather than saving himself for the death overs.
“Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia Cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt India,” Kaif wrote on X. Bumrah has now responded to the former India batter’s post, quoting it with a sharp dismissal. “Inaccurate before inaccurate again,” he wrote.

The pacer’s reply suggests he felt Kaif’s assessment of his bowling strategy was not only incorrect this time but had been off the mark on previous occasions as well. Despite Kaif’s concerns, selectors have shown full confidence in Bumrah. He was recently included in India’s squad for the two-Test home series against West Indies, beginning October 2 in Ahmedabad. Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Bumrah is fit and ready after a break following the England tour.
