JAMMU: Prohibitory orders continued to be in force in parts of Jammu’s Doda district — which has remained tense since local AAP MLA Mehraj Malik was detained under the Public Safety Act on Monday — although relaxations were allowed for Friday prayers. No fresh protests were reported from anywhere, but security forces were deployed in large numbers, especially near religious places, to prevent any law and order situation. SSP Sandeep Mehta visited Doda town along with other officers to assess the situation. The situation was now under control and efforts were on to bring back complete normalcy, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range DIG Shridhar Patil told reporters late Thursday evening after chairing a meeting to expedite restoration of peace in the region. However, prohibitory orders remained in force in Doda and Bhalessa towns, and mobile internet and wi-fi services also continued to be suspended, as a precautionary measure.
